In just 170 metres or 525 feet, you will see trees that you may never have seen before, such as the Paperbark Maple, with its cinnamon-coloured, peeling bark. You may be surprised to learn that there are trees on the Walk from the Magnolia, Legume, Rose and Olive families. There are trees here, such as the Northern Catalpa and Moraine Sweetgum, that are known as Carolinean species, because they are normally not found north of the Carolinas in the United States. There are trees with leaves in the shapes of hearts and stars. There is even a living fossil tree, the Gingko.
